It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Paul Kenneth Francis (PK). He passed away peacefully at his home in Eskasoni, Nova Scotia on October 11, 2024.
Paul was born on January 14th, 1953, in Sydney Nova Scotia to the late Chief Charles A. Francis and Mary Elizabeth Francis (Gloade). Paul was a member of the Holy Family Parish. Paul attended pilgrimages to St. Annes De Beaupre in Quebec and St. Ann’s Mission to Chapel Island.
In his younger years, Paul had a love for sports especially for baseball and hockey, where he was always bringing joy and excitement to those who had the pleasure of playing along side of him.
Paul will be missed by his humor and support for those he loved.
Paul’s commitment to serving others throughout his life. He proudly served with the Eskasoni Police force, where he dedicated himself to ensuring the safety and well-being of his community. Paul was the owner to PK construction and Building supplies. His passion for helping to build and sustain communities through honest labor and craftsmanship.
Paul was a Mi’kmaw warrior, he stood strong in his cultural ways playing an important role of his people’s traditions and rights. His bravery, leadership and commitment to his roots will be remembered and honored by all who knew him.
Once Paul retired, he loved to spend his time with his grandchildren, playing VLT machines, visiting family and friends.
Paul leaves behind with broken hearts his loving devoted friend Betty Ann Sylliboy, children: Paul Kenneth Jr (Lydia), Cheryl (Lorraine), Gerard (Mickella), Jordan, Bria and special sons Dennis Gerard, Gerald and Duma. Grandchildren; Julianna, Kyla, Ryan, Austin, Willam, Clarence, Christian, Conway, Simon, Kody, Domonik, Ryker, Mayah, Vonica, Kaley, Fayth, Jaron, Jolton. Great Grandchildren; Carley, Cameryn, Carmen, Ekkian Jr, Mason, Deacon, Meredith and Landon.
Paul is survived by his siblings- Gerald (Mabel), Sandra (Ken), Charles Jr., Barry (Eicka) and Jeanette. Paul is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Paul had several godchildren- Greg, Charlene, Claudine, Kenneth, Cassidy and Leechuck.
He was predeceased by siblings, Carolann, Shirley, Dennis, Lena, Margie, Marion Paul, Lena Joe, Blair, and Marion. Predeceased by Godparents Malian Marshall and Charles Young. Also predeceased by Godchild Brendon Poulette Jr.
Visitation for Paul Kenneth Francis will begin after 7pm on Saturday October 19th, 2024, at Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday October 21st, 2024, 10:30 am at the Holy Family Parish with Fr. Antolin Asor and Deacon Thomas Sylliboy officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni. Salite and meal will be held at the Eskasoni Family Parish Downstairs.
