Predeceased by parents, W.J. and Elizabeth (Gillis) MacDonald of New Waterford, her husband, the late Gordon Slaney, sisters; Isabel, Joan, Bernice and Anna May (in infancy), and brothers; Gordon (in childhood), Sylvester, Duncan, Alex, Ross, Steve and Frank. Noreen is survived by her daughter Rose(Serge) Valade, and grandchildren Andrew, Elizabeth, and John Turton.
Noreen graduated from St. Martha's Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and practiced nursing in Antigonish for 7 years until switching careers by opening and operating Fraser & Hoyt Travel Services for 10 years until 1970. Noreen and Gordon loved to attend square dances together whether they lived in Antigonish or during their 16 years living in Ben Eoin. Noreen also enjoyed cards, was an avid baker and was an active member of the CWL in East Bay for many years.
We would like to thank Dr. John Archibald and the nurses and staff of Harbourstone for their incomparable care and attention to Noreen, especially in her final days. Donations in memory of Noreen can be made to St. Mary's Parish of East Bay Cemetery Fund.
