It is with sad hearts that we announce that Michael Dennis Flemming passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on Feb. 18, 1932 in Margaree, Michael was the last surviving of 9 children born to Michael and Ellen (Dupres) Flemming. Michael spent his working life in the Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas in both Egypt and Cyprus. Following his retirement, he moved back to his beloved Cape Breton where he worked for the a time with the Corps of Commissionaires. He was an active and longtime member of the RCL Branch #12 and will be remembered by many for his handiwork in upholstering furniture.
Michael is survived and will be missed by his children: Stephan (Ruth), Norman (Anne) and Leah (Derek) Flemming; grandchildren: Lauren, Sawyer and Haydn as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2019 and all of his siblings.
