Mary Catherine Dawson, age 88 of Sydney, formerly of Ashby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Basse) Dawson.
She was a member of St. Theresa’s parish, Sydney. Mimie was employed as a waitress throughout the city for many years and made many friendships with the patrons of these various establishments. Even more so her times at home with family and neighbours were the focal point of her life.
She is survived by her daughter Ann (Wally) Tshritter, BC; son Harvey (Diana) Scott, Dartmouth; grandchildren Cora (Carter) MacNeil, Albert Bridge; Pauline (Rick) Lunn, Windsor, NS; Angela (Scott) Ross, Albert Bridge; B.J. and Danny, BC; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; also by sisters Dora (Al) Clarke and Mrs. Genevieve O’Callaghan, son-in-law Thomas Boutilier, formerly of Glace Bay and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mimie was predeceased by her daughter Linda Boutilier, sisters Rose, Dora and Alice (with whom she resided most of her life) and brothers Peter, Charles, Raymond, Arthur, Nick, John and Bernie.
There will be no visitation for the late Mimie Dawson. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Theresa’s Church with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
