Such a nice, kind man. I was sad to hear of his passing.  Mr. Borden cut my brother's hair for years and I always loved going to watch when I was little.  Our condolences to the family.  God bless.

Very sad to learn of John's passing. He was like a grand father to me.  I'll never forget the asking you for gum when we had ride in you car or days at your swimming pool. and to my grand mother who has been a big part of my life, sorry for your loss, I know how much you enjoyed have John in your life.

Very sad to learn of John's passing. He was around my entire life and always treated everyone with kindness and compassion. I'll never forget the summers swimming at his pool and all the jokes he made. Raising a glass of crown royal today for him, i'm happy he had so many great years with us. Take care John, and take care to everyone who had to pleasure of knowing him.

Uncle Johnny arrived at our home in Ontario many years ago with a case of pickled lobster tails and claws. My dad would only open a jar when celebrating special occasions and boy did we enjoy those occasions.  Dad called it maratime gold.  
I'm so glad Steve and I had the opportunity to visit Uncle Johnny in Sydney and Bras D'Or Lake during our last 2019 maratime road trip.  I loved listening to his stories and I will always remember him for his laughter and infinite smile. Johnny was truly a wonderful man and he will be missed by all.

So sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. He was a sweet man…. always a gentleman and pleasant guy.

I remember taking my grandfather for his haircuts after he moved to the Senior Citizen complex behind the “ Kmart “. He always insisted on going to Johnny Borden’s  in the Pier. So I spent many a day waiting in my car outside of Borden’s Barbershop.

Later on I met Johnny and Patsy at the Eagles hockey games. They sat next to my parents for years  and really enjoyed themselves.  My mother and Patsy were usually up to some mischief but Johnny and my father just smiled and kept their eyes on the game.

My parents also enjoyed meeting Johnny and Patsy at Simeon’s restaurant after Saturday mass. They had some very good times together.

Please know that Joe and I are thinking of you during this difficult time. We are currently out of the country so unfortunately won’t be able to attend the service.

I was saddened to learn of your father's passing. He was so good to all the neighbour kids with making rinks and taking us out to Big Pond. It seemed that he always had a project on the go from doing the basement to renovating apartments.
He was well respected by everyone who knew him.

I was sad to learn about your Dad’s passing.  Johnny was such a wonderful friend to dad.  I have such fond memories of Christmas visits from your dad.  He always had a laugh and a smile.  I am not sure how many house call haircuts he did for dad and the Fraser boys.  You could be sure he would come regularly.  

I personally remember your dad driving me with Joanne to MSUU.  He was so good to us all.  

He was one of the great ones!  He will be missed.

Uncle Johnny was such a fun-loving guy.  He  was more like an older brother.  He came to live with our family in the Pier and  even taught me how to drive.    I’m so proud of his accomplishment as the owner and operator of Borden’s Barber Shop for so many years.  Our condolences from my family to his.  

My sincerest sympathy to the Borden family.  In my early days of medical training I was one of the many people John ( and Catherine) shared their home and open arms with. They set a good example for all of us to follow. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to all our cousins and family of Uncle Johnny. We were so sad to hear of his passing.We were honoured when Uncle Johnny came to our wedding in Ireland 35 years ago this week. The fun and laughs that we had that week are all coming to mind. He even managed to give Ken an open blade shave before he walked down the aisle!When visiting Nova Scotia in the early 2000s the highlight of our children’s vacation was jumping in and out of uncle Johnny’s pool. We are so glad we got to meet up  with him  again only a couple of years ago in PEI. A gentleman and a truly wonderful person who will be missed by so many. God bless Uncle Johnny. I have so many fond memories of Johnny with my dad Albert Fraser. There was nothing they wouldn’t do for each other.  They had such a great friendship and I know Johnny missed my dad since his passing.  It will be a great celebration in heaven when they reunite!  My condolences to all the family❤️

I would like to send condolences to the Borden family. We grew up on Webster Street and Johnny's shop was at the end go our street across from Steadmans. Its where my Dad Eddie Rozicki took my three brothers for their first haircuts.  RIP Johnny.

I was sad reading of John's passing in this morning's Post.  I truly enjoyed being with John, recording wonderful stories and collecting numerous memories about our Nearing / Borden connection in 2014.  During those meetings and my annual birthday call, John revealed his ability of being a true gentleman throughout his life.  He generously shared many gifts about his life for all who knew and loved him.  They are the treasures which will remain splendid memories during these difficult days ahead.

John enjoyed a beautiful and personal faith and he will remain in our hearts and prayers.
