Jim was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Theresa’s Parish in Sydney. He would faithfully attend mass and when able to, he would even offer to drive other parishioners so they could be part of the congregation. Jim made his living as a Steel Plant Worker for Sydney Steel, and in his downtime was an avid sports fan, he especially liked to bowl, golf and skate.
Jim is survived by his brother John (Betty) Hickey and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, Jim is predeceased by his sisters; Madelyn Costello, Theresa MacDonald, Cecilia Mortimer and Rita Cameron.
The family would like to thank the staff of the 4th floor, in the Glace Bay Hospital, for the wonderful care Jim received during his final illness.
Cremation has taken place, and a Funeral Service will be held at TW Curry Parkview Chapel on August 12th, at 2pm, with Father Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
