1927-2014
Daniel Steele, age 87, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 2, 2014.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late James and Catherine (MacPhee) Steele.
Danny was employed by Cape Breton Beverages, retiring in 1992 after 43 years of service. Danny was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception parish. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12 and the Sydney Pensioners Club.
Danny is survived by daughter, Michelle Mueller; grandchildren, Danielle and Brett Mueller, Alberta; brother, Clemens, Sydney and very best friend and soulmate, Velma Scott.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Louise A., Pearl, Jeanette and Louise M; brothers, Johnnie, Clarence and Cyril.
Danny touched the lives of many people with his lovely singing and will always be remembered for his beautiful tenor voice which he graciously shared. He loved big band music and enjoyed dancing with his special partner. Walking was another keen interest of his and many times Danny could be seen walking and socializing in the Sydney area.
Visitation will take place 2 -4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5th at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral service in celebration of Danny’s life will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 6th also at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers donations in Danny’s memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross or a charity of your choice.
