It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Brian Tobin, our beloved father and brother who died peacefully on October 29, 2016 at the age of 58 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, ending his battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney on July 30, 1958, Brian was the oldest son of his predeceased parents Henry ‘Harry’ and Veronica ‘Bonnie’ (Gillis) Tobin. Better known as ‘Bro’, ‘Uncle Bro’ or ‘Rabbit’, Brian was an avid outdoorsman and a longtime member of the Cape Breton Search & Rescue. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including scuba diving, swimming, hiking and taking long walks throughout the community he loved. Brian was a proud Cape Bretoner through and through. An easy-going gentleman; he was well read with a great wit, who enjoyed a hot cup of tea and a piece of pie.
Brian will be missed every day and lovingly remembered by his sons, Stephen, Eric (Blaire) and Adam (Corinne). Brian will be fondly missed by siblings, Paul, Colleen, Karen (David), Kevin (Corinne), along with nephews and nieces, Christopher, Bonnie-Jean, Gavin, Sam, Harrison and Ellen.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, November 2nd, with funeral service Thursday, November 3rd, at 11 a.m. both at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jensen and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Cancer Centre for their amazing care and kindness. Donations in his memory can be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
