It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and aunt on May 22, 2023 at Buchanan Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Tish was a fighter and optimistic until the very end. Tish was born in Neil’s Harbour on October 11, 1949, to the late Theresa (McGean) and George Robinson. She was the granddaughter of the late Margaret and George McGean, and the late Bridget and Paddy Robinson, who raised Tish as their own.
Tish was a woman of devout faith and a member of St. Peter’s Parish Church, Ingonish Beach. She was employed by Parks Canada until her retirement in 2012. Tish loved her needlework, getting together with her devoted family, travelling to visit her kids and many adventures with her special “partners in crime”.
Left to mourn are her children, Peggy (Tom D’Amario), Roger (Jen) and Tommy (Rebecca). Her grandchildren, Elena, Julianna, Cole and Drew were her pride and joy. She is loved and remembered by sisters Valerie (Gordon Barron), Elaine (Lawson Stockley), Arlene (George Hines) and Glenda (Bill Rockey); and brothers Tommy (Marilyn), Dale (Cathy), Darrell (Maryann), Billy Joe (Cynthia), Teddy, Terry (Marlene) and Georgie (Karen). Tish will also be missed by her many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Besides her parents and grandparents, Tish was predeceased by brother Georgie, in infancy, nephews Allen and Derrick Robinson, niece Cathy Miller and great nephew Jesse Robinson.
Tish was a humble, gentle and caring person with the most positive and generous spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish Beach, on Monday, June 5, at 11:00 am with Fr. Jonas Uwaezuoke officiating. There will be a brief visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at the Ingonish Fire Hall in North Ingonish. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting www.fillmoreandwhitman.com.
A very special thank you to all of the special staff at Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Home Care, and the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for all of their care and support. Please make donations in Tish’s honour to the St. Peter’s Parish Cemetery Fund or the North of Smokey Palliative Care Hospice Society.
Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever
