Martha Raye Clarke

It is with saddened hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Martha Clarke on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Cove Guest Home in Sydney. Born on November 3,1929 on the Meadow Road, North River, she was one of five children of the late Sarah (MacAskill) and Peter Briggett. She resided in North Sydney most of her life and enjoyed knitting, baking and spending time with her family.

Martha is survived by her children Linda MacLeod of North Sydney, Phyllis (Joe) MacLeod of Ball's Creek, John MacEachern of Point Edward, step children Linda Shepherd of North Sydney, Shirley (Joey) Leblanc of Georges River, Joan Byers of North Sydney, Thelma MacInnis of Calgary, AB, Georgie (Angus) Stewart of North Sydney and Kenneth (Juanita) Clarke of Pictou and sister Maise MacLeod as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Martha was predeceased by husbands Kenneth MacEachern, Andrew Kinslow and Peter Clarke, brothers Monty, Abraham and Douglas, sister-in-law Theresa Briggett and brother-in-law Cleve MacLeod.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of the Ceilidh Unit at the Cove Guest Home for the great care over the past two years and also Dr. Mary Hutchinson who cared for her for many years.
