Vivian Elizabeth (Rocha) Talbot, age 83, of Somerset, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024 at St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River. She was the loving wife of Roger R. Talbot, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Philip and Mary Elsie (Amaral) Rocha, she had been a Somerset resident for over 50 years.
A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Class of 1958, Vivian earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Becker College in 1960 and a Certificate from Tuft’s University in 1964. She was a cytologist at both Mass General and Rhode Island Hospital for several years and was a homemaker and caregiver. A long-time communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Swansea, Vivian enjoyed doing crafts, listening to music, going on road trips and was an avid reader. She was always up for going to get a cup of coffee and she especially loved spending time with her family and her beloved dog Jager.
In addition to her husband she is survived by: six children, Tommy Shaw and his partner Allison of North Falmouth, Dianne Talbot and her partner James "Drew" Smith of Fall River, Bryan Talbot and his wife Jennifer of Somerset, Michael Talbot and his longtime companion Lisa Whitcomb of East Wareham, Andrea Arruda and her husband Carlos of Swansea and Matthew Talbot of Somerset; six grandchildren, Tianna Gittens of Fall River, Justin Arruda of Swansea, Zachary Arruda of Swansea, Hannah Arruda, Madison Talbot and Declan Talbot all of Somerset; one great granddaughter, Evelynn Sirois of Fall River; one brother Paul Rocha of Lakeville; one brother-in-law, Paul Talbot and his wife Gayle of Southboro; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Talbot of East Freetown and several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Liliana Talbot; sister of the late Irene Thorne and Philip Rocha and sister-in-law of the late Carroll Thorne and Kathleen Rocha.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the years of wonderful care Vivian received from Dr. Linsey Philip and all of the special staff members in his office as well as Corrine (Ohm) Ferreira, RN from Accent Care.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 9:00 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited.
