Thomas L. Souza

Thomas L. Souza, age 81, of Swansea, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Mirta “Lily” Tedesco-Souza to whom he had been married 22 years.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Louis and Irene (Cabral) Souza.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1959, he then received his Associate’s degree from Bristol Community College.

A Veteran of the United States Navy, he served from 1959 to 1963 during the Korean War. Thomas worked in the Bridgewater State Prison in the Psychiatric Unit as a Guard, in the computer industry for over 20 years, he had experience as a Real Estate Agent and was a former Police Officer for the City of Fall River.

The former President of the Somerset Sportsman Club, he enjoyed all things outdoors; gardening, fishing, hunting, and being a true outdoorsman. Thomas loved his dogs and his Harley.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; William Souza and his wife Karen Oliveira of Dartmouth and Thomas Souza and his wife Bonnie of Aurora, OH; one daughter, Julie Soares and her husband Steve of Jacksonville, NC; one sister; Patricia Conforti and her husband Bill of Somerset; one brother, Louis Souza of New Bedford; six grandchildren; Seth, Andrea “Andy”, and Kyle Souza, Ryan, Sam and Zachary Soares, as well as many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 10:30 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visitation prior from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thom’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
