Born in New York, a son of the late John T. and Winifred (Chase) Hamlin, he spent his youth in Newtown, CT, moving to Rehoboth 45 years ago.
An engineer, he worked for the former Polaroid Company in New Bedford for 20 years. Prior to that, Rev. Hamlin was pastor of Luther’s Corner Union Congregational Church in Seekonk and also served the Grove Chapel and Lakeville-Taunton Precinct Church. He studied at Northeastern University, Tufts University, Class of 1951 and Harvard Divinity School, 1955.
Rev. Hamlin was an avid Ham Radio Operator, call sign: W1LUN, very active with the Boy Scouts and interested in Astronomy.
Surviving in addition to his wife: son; Christopher P. Hamlin of Rehoboth, daughter; Elizabeth Wood and her husband Kevin of Lindenhurst, IL, sisters; Evelyn Ventresca and Trudy Honecker both of NY and grandchildren; Justin, Stephen, Ronald, Adrienne, Lauren, Alyssa and Madison and great grandchildren; Jaiden and Jazmyn.
His Requiem Eucharist will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10 AM in Christ Episcopal Church, 57 Main St. Swansea. Visiting hours Monday 2 -5 in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. In lieu of flowers contributions in his honor may be made to Community Visiting Nurses of Attleboro, 10 Emery St. Attleboro, MA 02703. Burial is Private.
