Richard T. Giguere, age 66, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 12, 2023 in the Kimwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of the late Cynthia L. (Cordeiro) Giguere and the former husband of Marie (Araujo) Goodman.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late George J. and Mary (Ferreira) Giguere he was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
He attended Joseph Case High School and earned a Commercial Driver’s License. A truck driver for over 40 years, he worked for several trucking companies, took over his family business Swansea Sanitation and owned his own company RG Trucking.
A classic car enthusiast, he had an impressive collection of his own. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs, riding his Harley Davidson, his years on the road driving a truck and getting together with his friends at the Hoy Tin restaurant in Swansea. He was a communicant of St. Dominic’s Church.
He is survived by one son, Cliffton Giguere of Fort Myers, FL; one brother, George Giguere and his wife Dorothy of Fall River; niece, Crystal Bennett and her husband Ralph of Fall River; nephew and godson, Corey Giguere of Fall River and five grandchildren, Joey, Paige, Alex, Tyson and Peyton. He was the stepfather of the late Joseph “Joey” Medeiros.
His Visitation will be Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Road, Swansea followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Swansea Animal Shelter, 68 Stevens Road, Swansea, MA 02777. Burial private.
