Paul L. Tobin, Jr., age 77, of Swansea, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a very brief illness with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Carol A. (St. Pierre) Tobin, with whom he shared forty five years of marriage before she passed away in 2017.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Paul L. and Adeal (Penault) Tobin, he was a life-long resident of the area.
Paul was the third-generation, owner of his family scrap metal business Cody & Tobin Inc. in New Bedford, which has been in operation for over one hundred years. Today his daughters, fourth generation, and two grandchildren, fifth generation continue to run the family business. An avid golfer, he enjoyed bowling, playing volleyball and most importantly loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by: his fiancé, Barbara Masse of Westport; one son, Paul M. Tobin of Swansea; two daughters, Karen A. Tobin of Swansea and Monica E. Tobin and her husband Jason Ferreira of Swansea; two grandchildren, Jaiden Ferreira and his companion Hunter Bechard and Jozie Ferreira; granddaughter-in-law, Sydney Feno; his godson, Jeffrey Tobin of Swansea and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jimmy and Tom Tobin.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 5:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Visiting hours from 2:00 to 5:00 PM prior to the service. Burial is private.
