Karen A. McHugh

Karen A. McHugh, age 51, of Seekonk, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, January 30, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence as the result of a hit and run motor vehicle accident outside her home in Seekonk. She was the wife of Sandy Lima to whom she had been married for 9 years.

Born in Boston, a daughter of Joan (Gifford) McHugh of Port St. Lucie, FL and the late John McHugh, she was a graduate of Westport High School and received her Associates Degree from the Community College of Rhode Island. Karen was employed as the Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Seekonk and prior to that she was employed as a Medical Laboratory Technician for the VA Medical Center in Providence.

Karen was a member of the Seekonk Historical Society and the Seekonk Animal Shelter Building Committee. An animal lover at heart, Karen volunteered at the Save A Pet Society in Seekonk.

In addition to her loving wife and mother she is survived by her sister Kerry McGrath of Rutland, MA. She also leaves her godson Daniel, nephew Patrick, and niece Rylee McGrath. Karen also surrounded herself with a large pet family, Kemosabe, Mittens, Shadow, Xena, Raven, Gabby Patches, Lily Bean, Annie, Audrey, Gracie, Max, Ben, Dixie and Karen's "Baby Boy" Rocky.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 9:00AM in the Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Ave., Seekonk. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT BIRCHCREST 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Save A Pet Society, 100 Peck St., Seekonk, MA 02771. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
