Brandon R. Leonardo, age 24, of Swansea, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015. He was born in Fall River, the son of Lisa (Rose) Leonardo of Swansea and Robert M. Leonardo of Fall River. Brandon was a 2010 graduate of Joseph Case High School and a lifelong resident of Swansea.
Upon his high school graduation, Brandon enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and completed boot camp at Paris Island in 2010. Brandon was a Marine Corps Combat Veteran, serving his country as a Machine gunner in Afghanistan and Jordan. He received the Combat Action Ribbon (Afghanistan), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (w/ 2 stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Jordan), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Nato Medal – ISAF Afghanistan.
Upon his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps in 2013, Brandon worked as a Security Officer for Imperial Security in Johnston, RI. He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Academy and Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Town of Swansea. He was a member of the Massachusetts Combat Vets Motorcycle Association Chapter 2-2 and Volunteered as an Instructor at the Marine Cadet Program at Battleship Cove.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents: William “Bubba” and Jean “Mema” Rose of Dighton and Helena “Vovo” Leonardo of Fall River; cousins Jillian Boughner, Alicia Boivin, Jocelyn Rodrigues, Cassidy Rodrigues, his godson Joshua Medeiros and Leonardo Pereira; Aunts and Uncles: Bob and Linda Boughner, Ana and Lad Almeida, Rose Pearson and Great Uncle Mike Rose.Brandon was also the grandson of the late Manuel C. Leonardo Jr.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 8am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea followed by his Funeral Mass at 9am in St. Francis of Assisi Church 530 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea.
