Born in Swansea, a son of the late Charles Goss and Dorothy (Austin) Eddy, he was the stepson of the late John “Jack” Eddy. He was a lifelong resident of Swansea.
A graduate of Joseph Case High School, Class of 1958, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the former Bradford Durfee College of Technology now UMass Dartmouth. A star athlete in high school he played both varsity baseball and football. During his four years in college, he played for their baseball team.
Mr. Goss was a Terminal Dispatcher in the transportation industry for many years prior to his retirement. He worked at Danis Transportation and Viti in Tiverton. He was Captain of the Swansea Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He cherished the many friendships he had made there, especially his dear friends the late Dave Jelinski and his wife Joan.
A sports enthusiast and mentor, he enjoyed coaching Swansea Little League and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was the biggest fan for his children and grandchildren at their sporting events.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Megan Silva and her husband Jordan, Jonathan Goss; one brother Peter Goss and his wife Adrienne all of Swansea; five grandchildren, Savannah Goss, Austin and Landon Silva, Jaxon and Kade Goss and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 10:30AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Birchcrest, 189 Gardners Neck Rd., Swansea. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
