Mark was a professional geophysicist in Calgary (a lifetime APEGA member and University of Calgary graduate) who worked in seismic, geophysical acquisition and imaging, micro-seismic and DAS monitoring, CO2 sequestration, imaging and project team management for Gulf Indonesia, ConocoPhillips Indonesia, and Shell Canada until he retired from Shell in 2018. Early in his career he was a pilot and a power engineer before returning to school to pursue geophysics.
Mark was kind and generous, with a passion for life, and a unique sense of humor. His favorite activities included hockey, skiing, kayaking, motorcycles, travel, flying and various outdoor endeavors. Mark enjoyed travelling, getting to know everyone, every dog, and every squirrel he met. He had a natural curiosity, a commitment to life-long learning and followed many recent scientific and financial developments.
Mark was born in North Vancouver and was predeceased by his parents Andy and Eileen Anderson. Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-five years, Jan Clark, his three siblings Dave Anderson, Arleen Austin and Lynn Kolling and other family and friends.
At Mark’s request, a formal service will not be held. Mark’s family is most grateful for the kindness and support provided during this difficult time. Memorial donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Association of BC (MGABC) 2805 Kingsway Vancouver, BC V5R 5H9 or Canada Helps
