Marjorie E. Hill (nee Benson) was born in Edmonton, Alberta on May 27, 1924, and raised in the small hamlet of Wabamun with her 5 siblings. After marrying her childhood sweetheart (David F. Hill) in 1943, they moved to sunny BC in 1948, and eventually settled on a small farm in Ocean Park to raise their 4 children.
Marjorie was a member of the Crescent Beach United Church and sang with the White Rock Choral Society. She loved to read, solve puzzles, and watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She was immensely involved in the lives of her family, hosting many large dinners and sleepovers with the grandchildren. She was always up for a game of Cribbage or Go Fish with her grandchildren, who called her “Gramma”. She was in the crowd for recitals, band concerts, sports events, and school plays. She was always ready for visitors with a candy dish filled with sweets, a cupboard full of cookies and pudding and a fridge full of Pop Shoppe soda.
In her senior years, she moved to Langley, but returned to White Rock for the last year of her life, where she passed away on March 18, 2023. She was 98 years old.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband David in 1981, and 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She leaves behind 4 children, Judy (Terry) Sullivan, Rick (Diane) Hill, Linda (Gary) Lengle, and Corrine (Kerry) Schneider, her youngest sister Doris McDougall (Edmonton, Alberta), as well as 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild with another on the way. She has always been central to their lives and will be dearly missed.
A special thank you to the staff at Evergreen Baptist LTC for their kind, compassionate and professional care.
As she always said…..“I will see you another day”
