Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Marion was the middle child in a family of 7 children. Marion loved to remember her time growing up in Ladner, playing softball with her sisters and brothers, picking berries with her mom (though few of Marion’s berries actually made it into her bucket), and delivering the Liberty magazine.
During her teens, the family moved to Vancouver, where Marion completed high school and worked at a number of part-time jobs, including working as an usherette in the Vogue theatre and as a waitress at Wilbur’s café. One of Marion’s favorite memories was of how she met Garfield, when he came into Wilbur’s with his brother and ordered a tomato sandwich. Marion and Garfield married in 1945 and had two beautiful children together. With Garfield often working out of town as a log scaler, Marion spent her time as a homemaker, taking much enjoyment and pride in raising her children and keeping a clean house.
She volunteered to help with many of her children’s activities, including figure skating and softball. With Garfield she enjoyed dinners, dancing and good country & western music, always looking her best for every occasion. As she grew older, Marion enjoyed gardening, watching a good movie, and kicking back to read the latest gossip (“showbiz”) magazine.
Marion will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandma. She leaves behind her devoted son Todd (Nancy), grandchildren Amber (Dave), Tyler (Dana), Kaitlyn, Jordan, Danielle, and great-grandchildren Alexander and Landon. Marion is predeceased by her husband Garfield, brothers Albert, William and sisters Thelma, Norma, Florence, Beverly and her beloved daughter Judi.
