David Middleton Robson of North Delta B.C., passed away peacefully early morning February 1st at the age of 90.
Dave was predeceased by his wife of over 60 years Gwen, son Steve and sister Dorothy. Dave is loved and missed by son Philip (Sandra), daughter-in-law Maggie, grandchildren Nick (Karissa), Jeff (Julia), Amanda (Mike), Ryan, Mark (Deanna), Sela (Ryan) and by great-grandchildren Kenzie, Landon, Harriet, Oliver, Nora, Eleanor, Everleigh, and Austin.
Dave was born in Yorkshire, England and was the son of a gamekeeper. After completing National Service, Dave worked at Slingsby Sale Planes as an apprentice aircraft builder, and this is where he met his wife Gwen, and they married in 1956. Seeking adventure and a better future, Dave and Gwen emigrated to Ontario, Canada, then Calgary and finally Delta, B.C., their home for over 50 years.
In Canada, Dave worked in boat building and finishing carpentry and was a true craftsman. Later, Dave progressed into commercial construction, working for Daon Developments as Manager Customer Service. During the early days of the “leaky condo” era, Dave (self-taught) became one of the first building envelope specialists. He then started a successful business in the field as a consultant in building waterproofing and leak detection.
Dave was an avid fisherman, hunter, world traveller and woodworker and loved spending time at the cottage he built on Mayne Island for many years.
He loved his family and suffered immense hardship losing his eldest son Steve and shortly after, his soulmate of over 60 years.
Dave longed for the day he could be in peace and now that day has come.
Rest in Peace Dad.
