It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of R. Brian Buchanan at his home in North Vancouver, BC on Sunday, July 5. Brian grew up in Chilliwack, BC with his three sisters--Carolyn, Susan and Patty--and younger brother, Ron. His sense of adventure, which was only surpassed by his sense of humour, informed his entrepreneurial spirit and took him to many corners of the world. Hiking the jungles of Papua New Guinea, he traded t-shirts for spears and tribal art with headhunters. Driving his way through Europe, he lived out of the trunk of the car he bought (and later sold) for $250. Building a home for his family, he ran a 300-hectare shrimp farm on a small Indonesian island. These are just a few of the many journeys he embarked on, all the while calling Vancouver home. Nothing made him happier than planning the next adventure, whether by motorcycle, boat, bicycle, or car. He will be hugely missed by his two boys, Connor and Michael, whom he adored, and his beloved wife, Danielle, as well as other family and many friends. Bon Voyage, Bri.
