Tim was a HUGE believer in “The big scoreboard in the sky.” Of course, he had the only rulebook. His first grade teacher wrote on his report card, “Tim has a negative attitude for anything not of his opinion.“ He wore that like a badge of honor ever since. That determination, or pigheadedness, was part of his charm, but it was also an obstacle that stopped him in his tracks more than a few times. Tim had certain mottos he lived by, “Be good. Do good.” “If you’re not 15 minutes early, you’re late.” “Another day, another A.” He was a fan of the 3 B’s: Bobby Kennedy, Bobby Knight, and Bob Dylan. Born in Indianapolis, IN he was proud of being a Hoosier and his Midwest roots and upbringing. Tim was arrogantly humble in his principles and the most open close-minded person you’d ever want to meet!
Tim was one of eight siblings; 7 brothers, 1 sister, 3 of which, along with his parents, preceded him to the Pearly Gates. The McGinley’s were a family of athletes excelling in all sports, or so the stories go, wrestling being the family favorite and the bane of anyone’s existence when Tim decided it was time to brush up on his skills and put you in a headlock. Tim continued his love of sports as a coach in various sports for his 4 boys, and in his role as a favored volleyball dad for his daughter’s 10+ years in the sport.
He leaves behind his wife, Lisa, of 22 years, five children he’s proud to call his own (Mikel, Christopher, Robert, Boston and Marley), and 4 grandchildren (Keeley, Liam, Iris and Carmen, plus 4 honorary grandkids, Tatum, Jemma, Chanel, and Dylan), all who filled his heart with joy. He was proud of his lifelong friendships, his 40+ years reputation in the field of concrete, the relationships he forged throughout the years, and the profound impact everyone made in his life. Being Papa Tim, however, was the role he was born to play and enjoyed with pure abandon!
Tim wasn’t always a kind man, but he was a good and generous man. He was patriotic, loved America, and believed in paying it forward. His love and respect ran deep. He didn’t necessarily know how to express it, but if you had it, you felt it. Tim left with some remorse, yet we believe he is now looking at that scoreboard up close and feeling the victory of a game well-played!
The family is celebrating Tim’s life as he’d like…simply and easy-going. I’d you’d like to attend, we’d love to have you!
