Tsgt. Scott Daniel McEachern USAF Retired (“Mac Daddy”) of Surprise Arizona passed away peacefully at his home, on June 14, 2023 at the age of 62. Scott, a twin, was born on August 10, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan. Scott grew up in Detroit with his parents and 1 brother and 3 sisters. He worked for Ford Motor Company after graduation and joined the United States Air Force on August 20, 1980.
Scott spent 20 years and 11 days in the Air Force doing what he loved – fixing jets. During his 20 years of service he earned numerous awards including Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 devices, Air Force Longevity Service Award with 3 devices, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and others.
Scott retired from the Air Force at Luke Air Force Base from the 21st Fighter Squadron on August 31st, 2000. One of his most treasurable memories that he shared was his incentive flight in an F-16 prior to his retirement.
After retirement and living the in civilian world for a bit, his love of jets took over and he spent five years in the UAE with Lockheed Martin working on F-16’s. Upon his return to Arizona, he began his 2nd career at Luke Air Force Base working on the F-35’s with Lockheed Martin as a contract employee.
Scott loved grilling. Every Christmas he put a huge prime rib on the grill, and Grandpa’s chicken was loved by all”. He also loved family gatherings, Disneyland, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Michigan Wolverines. In Disneyland he would talk to the characters in “Donald duck” - his child like nature was out in full force in Disneyland.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, Myron and Jennie McEachern, brother, Greg McEachern, twin sister, Susan McEachern Brown and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott is survived by his Wife, Kathy McEachern, sisters, Doris Vrsek and Janice LaLonde of Michigan, daughter, Irene Berlau, son Scott D.McEachern II; stepchildren and their spouses Mike and Shelly Dawson, Brian and Carmen Dawson,Kristy and Scott James, Melanie and Cody Pond along with 12 grandchildren in Arizona, 5 grandchildren in Iowa and 4 greatgrandsons in Arizona.
He shall have two final resting places - National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona and McEachern family plot in Michigan.
