Michael John Coleman, 73, passed away on January 2, 2024, after a brief battle with metastatic breast cancer. He was born on April 25, 1950, to parents John and Ruth Coleman. He grew up in Bremerton and graduated East High School class of '68. His folks owned The Maple Leaf Tavern and he also owned a bar called The Village.
He worked as a sheet metal mechanic at PSNS in Shop 17, retiring in 2016. At that time, he became a snowbird and spent the winters in Apache Junction, AZ, but always called Bremerton, Lake Tahuyeh and Oyster Bay home.
He was known for his long hair and beard, Levi's and hickory shirts, and parking his 1977 FLHS model Harley Davidson in the dining room. He thoroughly enjoyed Huskie's football, seafood, particularly oysters and a can of ice-cold Rainier Beer. He appreciated a good bartender and saw ZZ Top for his 70th birthday.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Barbara Carter, and his three children, Jesse (Malachi, Savannah), Natalie & Jake (Sawyer, Sloan), and Seth.
Coleman will be honored in a lake side celebration in the spring on or around opening day of fishing season, keeping that tradition alive. Contact Natalie for more details at 360-649-7056.
His family would like to express their gratitude to Surprise Hospice of the Valley and Surprise Funeral Care for their assistance during this difficult time.
In remembrance of Coleman, next time you are out enjoying a cold one, tip your server well and play a couple of tunes on the juke box, preferably something rock and roll.
