Larry and his wife were originally from Chile but settled in US to raise their 5 children. He worked as a copper metallurgical engineer throughout the west of the US, establishing a flourishing career and building a strong, devoted family. They also remained very connected with their extended family and close friends in Chile.
Most recently they had left their beloved California home to settle into senior life in Phoenix, a central location for all his family.
Larry was deeply cherished by his wife of 71 years, Isabel, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, adventure and companionship. His role as a sports Dad, brother, Tio Pirulo, and grandfather brought him immense joy, and he leaves behind cherished memories.
His life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his immediate and extended family. His wisdom, kindness, and gentle spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
Larry's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loving family and friends. Though he has departed from this world, the love and warmth he brought to others will remain a lasting tribute to his beautiful life. He is survived by his loving wife Isabel Diaz Wood, 5 children, Margarita, Lot, George, Jaime, and Rich, his brother Hernan Diaz MacDonald, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Larry will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W. Bell Rd, Surprise, AZ 85374.
