In 1963, Jean married Bill Hasenfus, moving into one of the cottages at The Dome Resort in Marinette. They eventually settled in Omro, Wisconsin and raised a family of 2 girls. Jean and Bill together owned and operated a popular bar and restaurant, The DZ, alongside a busy drop zone and skydiving school, Para-Naut DZ for 18 years. Jean worked in many roles including bartender and waitress alongside manifest and talking tens of thousands of student-skydivers-under-canopy down. They enjoyed many adventurous vacations together, traveling by small plane across the US and throughout the Bahamas and Mexico.
The next phase of Jean's life was in Webster, Minnesota and later Lakeland, Florida, where she and husband Jim enjoyed life on an airpark, was heavily involved in aviation, and volunteering for the International Aerobatic Club / EAA and the Sun N Fun Fly-In Aerobatic Center. Through Jim, Jean and her daughters gained a wonderful and loving Bonus Family. She was also able to pursue her creative passions via many mediums including drawing & painting, crotchet & knitting, quilting & fabric, and polymer clay. Many of her family and friends were gifted beautiful hand-made quilts, afghans or Auntie Dolls.
After Jim's passing, Jean relocated to Surprise, AZ where she enjoyed being close to daughter Darcy & son-in-law Rob and spending time with new friends who soon became family.
Jean is predeceased by her parents, sisters Joan and Joyce, brothers Jack and Jim, husband Jim, nephew Tracy.
Jean is survived by her daughters and their husbands Darcy & Rob and Heidi & Brian, their father Bill Hasenfus, daughter Jeanine, son Scott, sisters Janice and Judy, many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandkids and great grand kids from the Davis, Hasenfus and Taylor Families.
Jean would want to acknowledge all of the warm. welcoming, fun filled friendships that truly filled her life, with people from her home towns of Menominee and Omro, Webster, Lakeland and Surprise, the aviation community, her arts community and the wonderful community of Fellowship Square.
Jean's family would like to thank the staff and residents of Fellowship Square and Oasis for their caring and kindness.
Celebrations of Life will be held this coming summer.
