Donald R. Allen

Donald Robert Allen was born on August 31, 1939, to Marlin and Sara Allen in Columbus, Ohio. As a young boy, he was very active and ornery, often teasing his younger sister Susan. He loved playing sports, swimming and riding his bike. He had a paper route and as a teen he worked at Renzetti’s Market across the street from his home.

Don graduated from North High School in 1957. He started dating Janet in 1958 and they were married May 15, 1960. They had their son Bryan in April 1962 and daughter Lori in April 1965. He was a delivery driver for F&R Lazarus, a Federated Department Store for 27 years. He became a member of the 20- year club at Lazarus. Don was an avid fan of The Ohio State University football team (better known as the Buckeyes) and attended many of the home games. He was in a bowling league, played a little golf, and liked fishing. He and Janet took western square dance lessons and joined the Rhythm Reelers Club. He was a member of a Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Don and Janet moved to Arizona in 1988. He enjoyed their new swimming pool and loved his golf cart. He loved taking care of his yard and plants. Over his retirement years, trips were made to Las Vegas and Laughlin and other casinos throughout Arizona. They enjoyed traveling and taking in the beauty of the Southwest. Don attended Horizons Community Church.
