Paul Clayton Billings, 93 of Sun City, Arizona passed away peacefully at Royal Oaks Health Care Center on April 17, 2010. Paul was born in Stonington, Maine on December 29, 1916. He was the older of two children born to Mabel (Smith) and William Billings. Paul and Cortna (Kingsley)his wife of 68 years, have resided in Sun City since 1975.
At the age of 16 Paul graduated from Stonington High School. He then attended Hebron Academy for one year before beginning his education at the University of Maine where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
While at college, Paul met and ultimately married Cortna, on December 25, 1941; Paul had a career spanning 34 years with Exxon, enjoying many assignments in the production of petroleum products. His Exxon career began at the Bayway Refinery in New Jersey and included positions in Fawley, England and Okinawa where he retired from Exxon as the Refinery Manager. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, sailing, golfing, lapidary, bridge and spending time with his family.
Paul leaves behind a long list of family and good friends locally and around the world, including his wonderful and loving wife, Cortna; younger sister, Mary Orsenigo; three children, Mary Ellen Culp (Wes), Jed Billings (Marie) and Tom Billings (Amber); four grandchildren, Scott Culp (Chasity) , Tommy Billings, Laurie Schoonover (Jason) and Deena Ross (Justin); five great grandchildren, Cora, Trevor, and Sam Schoonover and Brianna and Casey Culp; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Paul was a generous and caring man who was greatly loved and will be missed very much. Please visit www.legacy.com to place online condolences for the family. A memorial service will be held at the Faith Presbyterian Church on 16000 North Del Webb Blvd in Sun City, AZ on Saturday, May 22nd at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association and the University of Maine.
