Frederick C. Scot, M.D., born February 16, 1934 in Newark, NJ. died peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital on August 13, 2010 in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Scott received his Bachelor of Science in 1955 from Rutgers University, his Master of Science, Pharmacology in 1962 from the University of Michigan and his Doctor of Medicine, cumlaude, in 1966 from Creighton University. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corps from 1968 - 1970 and went on to serve as a family practice physician until 1978. Dr. Scott served as the Chief of Staff, Director of the Emergency Department, Physician Advisor to Quality Council and Case Management and Chief Medical Officer/Director Maryvale Hospital, Phoenix, AZ from 1969 - 2005. Dr. Scott provided executive leadership to the West Valley Emergency Center, Goodyear, AZ which was only one of two free-standing emergency centers from 1998 - 2003. He went on to become the Medical Director for West Valley Hospital upon its opening, 2003 - 2004. Most recently Dr. Scott served as the Chief Medical Officer for Havasu Regional Medical Center, Lake Havasu City, AZ, 2006 - 2009. Dr. Scott also served his community as a City Council Member for the City of Goodyear, AZ from 2003 - 2007. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Hogan Scott and children, Dr. Frederick Scott, Jr (Darlene) of Waco, TX, Whitney Witasick (Kevin) of Marlton, NJ, Nina Scott-Fulkerson (Jens) of Buckeye, AZ, Terri Bill of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Michael H. Bill (Laura) of Phoenix, AZ, Betsy MacNab (Colin) of Indianapolis, IN, Daniel Bill (Christi) of Glendale, AZ, his sisters, Anita Schill (Richard) of Bahama, NC, Mildred Yannotta of Litchfield Park, AZ, numerous nieces and nephews and 14 grandchildren. Visitation Services will be held at Sunland Memorial Park and Mortuary, 15826 Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ on Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 5pm-8pm. Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W. Thomas Rd, Avondale, AZ on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10am. A procession will follow for private ceremony at Sunland Memorial Park.
