Deborah Sue Gibson

Debbie Sue Gibson, 62, passed away unexpectedly at her home on March 14, 2021 in Sun City, Arizona. She is preceded in death by her parents Don and Dorothy Loisel, her nephew Jonathan Loisel, her cousin Amy Joe Waters, and a number of aunts and uncles. She is survived by her four siblings Mark Loisel, Jane Rader, Doug Loisel, and Jerry Loisel, her two daughters Christen Montogomery and Kelly Wallington, her beloved granddaughters Katelyn and Charlotte Wallington, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Debbie was born in Seattle, Washington on January 21, 1959 as the third child of Don and Dorothy Loisel. She spent most of her childhood in Washington before the family moved to Fremont, California. Debbie remained in Fremont until eventually moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 2001.

Debbie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Science from Cal State Hayward and her Teaching Credentials in Secondary Education from National University in San Jose, CA. Eventually, Debbie earned her Master’s degree in Education Administration from Northern Arizona University. Debbie taught at a number of schools for twenty years. She had a passion for teaching in inner-city schools and enjoyed working with underprivileged children. Aside from teaching, Debbie worked in group homes with foster children. Most recently, Debbie taught at Westland Charter School in Phoenix, AZ and loved the people she worked with as well as her students.

Debbie was a talented seamstress and recently began making doll clothes for her granddaughters as well as aprons and curtains for her daughters. She enjoyed baking with Katelyn and Charlotte as well as playing cards and Scrabble with family. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed shopping. While living in Sun City she often frequented garage sales, second hand stores, and antique shops. She was looking forward to semi-retiring and relocating to Kentucky to be with her daughters and granddaughters in June.

Debbie was a very kind and considerate woman. She was extremely selfless and cared deeply for others. Many people remember Debbie for her bright smile and contagious laugh. She has made an impact on a number of lives over the years and will be deeply missed.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, her daughters have opted to have a memorial service in Kentucky at an undetermined date. For more information, please contact her daughter [email protected].
