David Gonzales Valenzuela went to be with our Heavenly Father on June 15, 2014. He was 65 and living in Surprise, Arizona. He was born in Silver City, New Mexico to Felix and Refujio Valenzuela. He was a loving husband and father, a great friend, mentor. In addition, he would share his wisdom and life experiences to help those who crossed his path.
David’s life experiences included playing high school basketball, the team made it to State finals in 1966 and 1967. He married his high school sweetheart and served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He coached his daughters’ softball teams for St. Vincent de Paul, and coached boxing at the Boy’s Club of America. David was an active member of the Roadrunner’s Prospecting Club and GPA. While employed at the City of Phoenix (27 years), he often was found at the Phoenix Civic Center speaking on water conservation and Desert Xeriscape.
David’s legacy begins with his wife Celia; his daughters, Lydia and Victoria; his godchildren, Mandito and Krystal; grandchildren, Bennyjoe, Steven, John David, Adam, Jessie, Rafael and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Deyanna, Bennyjoe, Alexavier and Gemini; brothers, Danny, Felix and Eloy; Sisters, Delia and Anna.
