Virginia “Jinx” Vincent went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 6 AM. Jinx was born August 2, 1922 in Homer, LA to Bill and Ruby Peace. She celebrated her 96th birthday earlier this year.
In 1944 she married H.H. “Coke” Vincent and they had 63 years of loving & devoted marriage, until his death in November, 2007. They had two children, a son, Ramsey and a daughter, Janie.
Preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruby Peace, brother Jack, sister Edna, husband Coke Vincent, son Capt. Ramsey Vincent.
She is survived by her daughter Janie V. Bono, married to Wayne of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Sarah Vincent, Col. Matt Vincent and wife Candice, Tiffany Bono Morrow and husband Brad Morrow, and Brittany Bono Carter and husband Ben Carter; ten Great Grandchildren; her two brothers, Bill Peace and wife Sue of Texas, Bobby Peace and wife Ceci of Arizona; nephew Charles Vincent and wife Susanne ; nieces, Alison Ramey and husband Dr. Allen Ramey, Cheryl Lonquet, Charlene Hines and husband Ray, Carol Dimmick Sunberg and husband Walley, Diane Dimmick and Dottie Dimmick Adams, Shona Adams, Embre Peace, Robby Peace, Mark Peace, Livy and Sonrisa Peace.
She graduated from Talco High School, Talco, Texas in 1940. She then graduated from Tri State Hospital School of Nursing, Shreveport, LA in 1943 as a registered nurse. After graduating nursing school she moved to Orange, Texas and met a handsome young Coast Guard serviceman. Coke and Jinx were married three months later in March of 1944. They later made their home Sulphur, LA. She continued her nursing career at West Cal Cam Hospital. She was very active in her church, Henning Memorial United Methodist, Mustard Seed Shop, UMW, Lydia Circle, as well as serving friendship meals once a month to her neighbors. She served as a Lay Pastor on care teams, taught Adult Sunday School, held Bible Studies in her home and had her own Sour Dough Bread ministry. She also served on the Lake Charles Camp Fire Girls Council and was a charter member of the Sulphur Garden Club.

Funeral Services: Monday, November 26, 2018, 9:00 am -Private Family Graveside at Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 10:00 am -11:00 am at Henning Memorial United Methodist Church followed by an 11am Memorial Service.
