Thomas was a native of the Moss Bluff/Lake Charles area and had been a resident of Vinton for the last 18 years. He was an avid fisherman and duck hunter and also loved to cook. He would be considered a "Master of All Trades" and owned and operated a local fiberglass business for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Ramona Whatley of Vinton; his mother, Gladys Whatley of Abbeville; his three daughters, Brandy Whatley, Candie Whatley, and Tommie Jean Whatley Hantz and husband, David, all of Vinton; three brothers, Michael Whatley and wife, Dianna of Vinton, Kenneth Whatley and wife, Tina of Reeves, and Joe Adams and wife, Diane of Moss Bluff; and his ten grandchildren, Angela Leggett, Jean-Luc McClellan, Caleb McClellan, Randal Nunez, Breanna Nunez, Trinity Nunez, Zoey Nunez, Emma Nunez, Abigail Hantz, and Noah Hantz. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene Whatley.
A Celebration of Tommy's Life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, November 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
