Richard was born on May 4, 1951 in Lake Charles, LA to Thedford and Doris Parker, the youngest of their four children. He was born and raised in Southwest Louisiana, attending Sulphur High School, Class of 1971. He began working for UTMB in Galveston, TX shortly after high school, and his high school sweetheart, Deborah joined him after they were married in December 1972. Richard and Deborah welcomed two children; Cory Parker and Derrick Parker.
Richard enjoyed hunting, deer especially, but when he was not hunting he could be found in the garage, working on cars, tinkering on his honey-do-list. He took pride in the craftmanship, often building items for the house or stunt items for the kids. He was a jack of many trades; including electrical, carpentry, mechanics, and locksmith trade. He enjoyed traveling with his family, taking the kids to Disney, Zoo's, and Washington D.C.
In 2008 Richard and Deborah returned to Sulphur, LA and he began early retirement, dedicating his time to the Parker Camp in Toledo Bend.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, a brother; Donald Reese Parker and his father in-law; Carl (Peewee) Drounette.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years; Deborah, two sons; Cory (Daryth) Parker and Derrick (Amy) Parker, two grandchildren; Andrew and Ellie, a brother; Timothy Parker, a sister; Becky Fontenot, his mother in-law; Erline Drounette as well as many close friends whom he considered family.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date and time.
