Matthew Jason Howell, 38, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born on December 3, 1985 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was an avid Chess player and weight trainer, and his hobbies consisted of singing, reading, and listening to music.
He is survived by his son, Carter James Howell of Lake Charles; mother, Anita Kay Perez (Raul) of Lake Charles; father, Robert Louis Howell of Shreveport; siblings, Paul Joseph Perez of Lake Charles, Lacy Perez of Houston, Texas, and Tiffany McCollough of Lake Charles; grandfather, Arthur Parker (Alice) of Sulphur; grandmother, Geneva Perez of Sulphur; aunts, Suzanne Parker of Sulphur, and Jessie Madonna Corlito of New Hampshire, Suzanne Nelson (Wes) of Carlyss, Janice Baty (Buryl) of Choupique, Arlene Blanchard (Greg) of Carlyss, Angela Lyons of Lake Charles, Kathy Hebert (Davy) of Grand Lake; uncles, Richard Howell of Shreveport, Michael Joseph Corlito (Heather) of Concord, California, Leroy Edward Parker of Sulphur, Daniel Bruce Parker of Sulphur, James Allen Parker of Austin, Texas, Carlos Perez (Alice) of Carlyss, Tony Perez of Sulphur, Frank Perez of Chicago, Illinois, David Perez of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Samuel Perez of San Diego, California; great uncle, Alex MacEachern of Inverness, Nova Scotia, Gerald MacEachern of Massachusetts; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Doris Howell; grandmother, Matilda MacEachern; uncles, Earl Wes Parker and Arthur Lee Parker; along with his aunt, Sarah Florence Parker.
A Celebration of Matthew's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 10:00 am, with Hixson Celebrant Jody Tyler. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:30 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Friday, from 8:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Bates Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
