Lonnie was born in Texarkana, Arkansas and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 10 years, coming from Keithville. He retired from Southwestern Bell (AT&T) after over 25 years of service. Lonnie was a U.S. Air Force Reserve veteran of 25 years. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in DeQuincy, and the RAFBHA military organization. He enjoyed raising horses, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Eades of Sulphur; his children, Kevin Eades and wife, Deanna of Denver, Colorado, Allen Conrad and wife, Judy of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Connie Koonce and husband, Roy of Sulphur; his siblings, Joe Eades and wife, Shirley of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Carol Ann Fails of Albuquerque, New Mexico; twelve grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Van Dame Eades; his parents, Joseph "J.C." and Wilma Eades; and sisters, Judy and Jane Eades.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 4, in New Hope Baptist Church in DeQuincy. The Rev. Roland Hebert will officiate. Pallbearers will be Chris Koonce, Roy Koonce, Allen Conrad, Josh Tracy, Joseph Conrad, and Joe Eades. Burial will be in Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until the time of service Sunday in the church.
