Joseph Javie Guidry, 91, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 in a local hospital.
Mr. Guidry moved to Sulphur in 1945 and was a retired bus driver and custodian for Calcasieu Parish Schools. He loved shrimping.
Survivors include his son, Raymond Guidry from Polachius, Texas; daughters, Janie Marie Santiny of Sulphur, Geneva Provost(Jimmy) of Sulphur, and Glenda Marie Doucette(Alton, Jr.) of Palestine, Texas; brothers, Bertrand Guidry, Jr. (Mary) of Rayne, Merlin “Jack” Guidry(Grace) of Rayne and Rufus Guidry (Merline) of Shreveport; sisters, Joyce Spell of Rayne, Mary Alice Leger of Rayne and Patsy Brice (John) of Duson; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 11 in Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery #2 in Rayne. Visitation will be held from 2 – 9 p.m. Saturday and resume Sunday at 8 a.m. until time of service.
