James Dyke Aleshire

Dyke was a Sulphur native who attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the Sulphur High School Class of 1956. He owned and operated Air Conditioning Service. He was a member of the Maplewood/Hollywood Lions Club for over 35 years, and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 10 years. He was a member of the Lake Charles Civil Air Patrol and was in their Foreign Exchange Program. Dyke was a founder of the Bayou Bowmen and a lifetime member of the North American Fishing Club.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Aleshire and his wife Mary, of Sulphur, and Mitchell Aleshire and his wife Patricia, of Baton Rouge; sisters, Cynthia "Bunny" Lee of Grapeland, Texas, and Sondra Abrahams and her husband Kenneth, of Lake Charles; brother, Charles Aleshire and his wife Anne, of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren, Megan, Monica, Morgan, Michael and Matthew Aleshire, of Sulphur; mother of his children, Lee David; and special friend, Jackie Mead.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Cynthia Aleshire; sister; Rhonda Johnson; and nephew, Wayne Lee.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sulphur. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday with a scripture service at 6 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday, all in the funeral home.
