He was a native of Abbeville, was raised in Vinton, and had been a resident of Sulphur most of his adult life. Dudley was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8978 and the American Legion Post #179 in Sulphur. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching westerns, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Ronald Broussard and partner, Greg Torre of Houston, Texas, Brenda Broussard of Payson, Arizona, Marlene Lemaire and husband, Raymond of Sulphur, and Melina Baggett and husband, Bob of Sulphur; his cousin by marriage but brother at heart, Herman Crochet of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren, Jeff Broussard, Paul Lemaire, Chris Broussard, Clarice Busby, Kelly Petross, Kevin Lemaire, Christy Heddins, Bethany St. Romain, and Doug Baggett; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his spouses, mother of his children, Bertha Kratzer Broussard and Beverly Crawford Broussard; his parents, Portalise and Cloma Broussard; and his siblings, Isaac Broussard, Wilford Broussard, Willie Mae Ingwersen, Viola Maxwell Judice, Neomi O'Conner, Nola Mehling, Aline Constance Irby, and Walter Broussard.
A Celebration of Dudley's Life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 19th in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson's Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Sunday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Broussard, Paul Lemaire, Chris Broussard, Kevin Lemaire, Doug Baggett, and Chad Petross.
