Betty Jean Sonnier, 91, of Sulphur, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. She was born to her late parents, Henry Lee and Katherine Andrepont on March 30, 1933 in Church Point, Louisiana. She was a native of Church Point and had been a resident of Sulphur for nearly 80 years. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church where she was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters and a member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include her children, Kirk Derek Sonnier of Sulphur, Gil Sonnier and wife, Rita of Sulphur, and Rebecca Ann Sonnier of Washington, Louisiana; her brothers, Albert Andrepont of Lake Charles and Markel Andrepont of Sulphur; seven grandchildren, Josh Ardoin, Damian Brock, Clint Brock, Brent Sonnier, Lucas Sonnier, Brandon Broussard, and Samantha Sonnier; along with six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph G. Sonnier; son, Dee Sonnier; parents, Henry and Katherine Andrepont; along with her brothers, Leander Andrepont, Burt Andrepont, and John Andrepont.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 10:00 am, with the Very Reverend Edward J. Richard, M.S.,V.F. officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, from 8:30 am until the procession to the church. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery.
