William Greyson Brach Medlin

William Greyson Brach (Grey) Medlin, 16, of Sugar Land, Texas left this world suddenly and far too soon on Monday, August 15, 2016. Grey was Born January 27, 2000 in Houston, TX to Wade and Beth Medlin. He was a much loved son, brother, friend, teammate and follower of Jesus. Grey grew up in the Missouri City and Sugar Land area where he attended Fort Bend Christian Academy since Pre-Kindergarten and was a proud member of the class of 2018. Grey was loved by all and his infectious joy and contagious laugh made him a friend to anyone, young and old, that was privileged enough to know him. Diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease in November 2014 Grey refused to allow his physical condition hold him back or steal his joy. An avid sports fan and athlete Grey grew up playing baseball, soccer and snowboarding. He was a member of the FBCA Varsity baseball team, Varsity soccer team and had planned to go out for the cross country track team this year. Never the biggest on the field, his drive and the size of his heart allowed him to excel in everything he set his mind to. Whether fielding a grounder, defending a goal, carving up a slope or whipping up a gourmet meal in the kitchen, Grey put his heart and soul into everything he did. Off the field, Grey loved hanging out with his brothers and friends and just laughing or experimenting with a new recipe in the kitchen as he worked to love, honor and serve his mother. He also loved spending time with his Dad eating out and playing catch. Grey was a passionate and lifelong Aggie fan. Never missing a home football game, Grey bled maroon and white and loved attending Aggie football games with his mother, grandfather and brothers. Foremost to Grey though was the fact that he was a follower of Christ. As a leader in P251, a student organized and run Bible study, Grey loved getting together with his friends and worshipping God together while they grew in their love and understanding of Christ. Grey’s desire in life was showing the love and forgiveness of Jesus in both his words and deeds. Most recently that love was put into action as Grey travelled with a group of school friends to serve the people of Jarabacoa in the Dominican Republic on a week-long mission trip. Whether it was playing with the children at Doulos Discovery School or digging a ten-foot-deep hole for a new community center in Angosto, Grey worked with love, joy, happiness and delight. He made all of those around him laugh and looked for ways to shine the light of Jesus into the lives of the people he served. In death he joins his Grandfather, R.O. Medlin, Jr. Grey is survived by his mother Beth Medlin, father Wade Medlin, brothers Price and Rowe Medlin, Grandfather John Burton, Grandmothers Jenny Hardy, Ruth Medlin, stepgrandmother Carol Burton, stepgrandfather Lawrence David “Sonny” Hardy, Aunts Jeana Van Dyke, Cheryl Robinson, Uncles Keith Medlin and Jody Van Dyke, Cousins Bailey and Nate Van Dyke, Laura and David Robinson and all of his family and friends from Fort Bend Christian Academy, Sugar Creek Church and River Pointe Church.

Services will be at Sugar Creek Church, 13223 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, beginning at 3 PM on Friday, August 19.
