Vernon Georgesen, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, in Katy, Texas. Born on September 11, 1928, in rural Hubbard, Nebraska, Vernon lived a long and fulfilling life rooted in family, community, and the simple joys of nature.
He was the son of Henry and Lola Georgesen and grew up in the heartland of Nebraska. Vernon graduated from Homer High School in 1947 and soon after began a lifelong partnership with Ramona Conklin, whom he married in June of 1948. Together they built a life centered around love and shared experiences that spanned more than seven decades.
Vernon spent most of his life in the communities of Homer, Walthill, Dakota City, and South Sioux City. He embraced the rhythms of small-town life while also enjoying the freedom of travel. For several years, he and Ramona would escape the cold Nebraska winters by RVing to Arizona and California—adventures that brought them joy and lasting memories.
A man who found happiness in both quiet moments and spirited passions, Vernon loved fishing and gardening. Whether casting a line into a still lake or tending to his plants at home, he found peace in nature’s simplicity. He was also an avid fan of Nebraska Football—a loyal supporter through every season.
Vernon’s legacy lives on through his beloved wife Ramona Georgesen of Richmond, Texas; his children Teri (and Ray) Bielenberg, Debbie (and Dan) Peterson, and Randy Georgesen; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother Nolan Georgesen; sisters Betty Christopher and Char Flaugh; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Roger Georgesen; daughter-in-law Terri Georgesen; and his parents Henry and Lola Georgesen.
