Marjorie Neuhaus Wallace

Marjorie was born on June 8, 1918, in Houston, Texas, to Fred W. Neuhaus and Lillian Beasley Neuhaus. She graduated from San Jacinto High School and the University of Texas.

Marjorie was a long time resident of Sugar Land, Texas for over 55 years, and owned and managed 7 ranches in the Yoakum, Shiner, Halletsville, and San Marcus areas up until her passing.

Marjorie had many interests and hobbies, including horse racing, hunting, and traveling with her niece, Rebecca Neuhaus Kropik and longtime friend Pris Mouton. She was a member and officer of the Fort Bend Garden Club, and Southwest Bridge Club; but her favorite day was spent outside in her yard with her beautiful flowers and two dogs, Runner and Markey by her side.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Claude Wallace; and beloved son, Wade Roy Wallace of Yoakum, Texas.

Marjorie leaves behind and thanks her niece, Rebecca Neuhaus Kropik; daughter, Reba Gonzales; close friends, Anthony and Amy Drlik and family; Pris and Jerry Mouton; Don and Thelma Cormier and family; Ann and Bart Davis and family; caregivers, Dianna Sobala and Kitty Ramirez; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Marjorie was such a unique and patriotic sole who marched to the beat of her own drum for so many years and she will be missed by so many who were lucky enough to know her.

Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday, September 18, 2015, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit). A Celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 19, 2015, in the Morrow Chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Ave., Houston, TX 77023.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Marjorie’s memory be made to the American Heart, American Cancer, Wounded and Disabled Veterans, VFW, or Star of Hope
