Laura Dunlop Shepherd Crain went home to heaven on Oct. 16, 2018 in Tyler, Texas. She was 89 years old. Laura was born on August 30, 1929 in Orange, Texas to William Leroy Shepherd and Sara Cunningham Shepherd.
She was preceded in death by her Christ devoted husband of 52 years Jesse Edward Crain Jr. and infant son William Reeves Crain. Furthermore, she was preceded in death by her brother Guilford Cunningham Shepherd and her sister Frances Josephine Poole.
Laura is survived by her son Eddy Crain (wife Jean), daughter Denise Davidson (husband Dewey), and daughter Julie Roseberry (husband Michael). She is survived by her grandsons Bryan Davidson (wife Amber), Jeff Crain (wife Debby) and Justin Davidson (wife Darcy), and her granddaughter Alayna Joy Roseberry. She is also survived by her precious great grand children Avonlea Crain, Aria Davidson, Eliyah Davidson, Linley Crain, Jackson Davidson, Caia Davidson, Lillian Davidson and Rowan Crain. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Laura graduated from Sam Houston State University at the age of 19 with a BS degree in elementary education. She taught in the Spring Branch school district for ten years. In 1973, she and Jess opened up the Wet Net Christian Bookstore and ministered to the people in Houston, TX for 23 years. She was a faithful member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Sugar Land.
Grandma was a great prayer warrior and loved the Lord Jesus Christ. We are saddened by her passing but are rejoicing at the heavenly reunion in the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 19, 2018 at 4:00 PM with visitation at 3:00 PM in Sugar Land, TX at Settegast-Kopf 15015 Southwest Freeway Sugar Land, TX 77478. Dr. Dewey Davidson and Bryan Davidson will officiate the ceremony.
