JOHN ALVIN SMITH, JR., passed away peacefully on September 1, 2012, at the age of 84.
Among a few of his professional accomplishments includes retiring with the rank of Caprain from the United States Air Force after serving for twenty years. Johnny worked for NASA and Texas Instruments before eventually retiring from TRW Controls.
Having been born in Abilene, TX, Johnny traveled the world while in the Air Force. His adventures took him to various bases in Japan, to the Taj Mahal, to relaxing vacations in Hawaii. Along with the world travel, Johnny was also quite well known across the state of Texas for playing the fiddle, most notably for his style in playing waltzes and love for show tunes.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jo Smith; and a plethora of sons, daughters, and grandchildren, that will all miss him dearly.
