Joe S. De Leon, born on July 20, 1947, in Victoria, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Missouri City, Texas. He was 77 years old. Joe was a proud Vietnam War veteran who served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1968 to 1972. After his honorable military service, he dedicated 38 years to working as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, a career that he loved and cherished.
Joe was a man of many passions. He was an avid supporter of the Houston Texans and enjoyed tailgating and attending their games with family and friends. He also loved watching the Houston Astros and spent countless hours cheering on his favorite teams. Joe was active in his community, playing softball, attending Tejano dances with his beloved wife, Rosie, and coaching his children in sports. His greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs, who brought him immeasurable happiness.
Joe was a kind and loving man, deeply devoted to his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Esteban and Elvira De Leon, and his sisters, Helen Robles and Bessie Lopez. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosie De Leon; his daughter, Victoria Presas (Gilbert Presas Jr.); his son, Victor De Leon; his sister, Mary Villarreal (Albert Villarreal), and brothers, Steve De Leon and Amos De Leon. Joe also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Anjelica Pena, Victor De Leon II (Tina De Leon), Joey De Leon, Arianna Presas, and Erica Presas, as well as his great-grandchildren, Eduardo and Damian.
The De Leon family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Vantage Palliative and Hospice Care, along with the dedicated staff at the VA Medical Center, for their compassion and care during Joe’s final days.
Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, loyalty, and joy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
A visitation for Joe will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6pm at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1510 5th St, Missouri City, TX 77489. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 12:45 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
