Elizabeth Gabriel Macasaet

Elizabeth Serrano Gabriel Macasaet was born on June 5, 1952, in Manila, Philippines, to Dante and Natividad Gabriel. She was blessed to be a part of a big family with six siblings - Alex Gabriel, Zoilo Gabriel, Esperanza Gamboa, Zarah Concepcion, Miriam Cooper & Jonathan Gabriel.

After graduating from the Philippine College of Commerce, she came to the Bay Area in Daly City, California. While working at the Bechtel Corporation in San Francisco, California, Elizabeth met and married her husband of almost 35 years, Nestor Austria Macasaet. In the late 1970s, Nestor and Elizabeth started a family and set roots in Houston, Texas. Together, they had their three R’s - Rachael Grace (Christian Dipasupil), Rebekah Gabriel (Edward Paz) & Raniel Leodan (Cecilia) Macasaet. Elizabeth was affectionately called “Nana” by Dante Macasaet, Elijah Dipasupil, Adrian Dipasupil & Saint Macasaet. Her purse was always full of sweet treasures for her four grandsons!

Elizabeth worked at the United States Postal Service’s main office in Downtown Houston in Human Resources for almost 30 years. After a few years of retirement, she decided to jump back into the workforce with Kingspoint Insurance Agency.

Elizabeth loved the Lord with all her heart and professed faith in Jesus. She was an active member of First Philippine Baptist Church in Missouri City for almost 30 years, serving in various capacities throughout the years - church secretary, VBS Director, Sunday school teacher, Satellite Bible Study member (Stafford I), choir member, and member of the Women's & Seniors Ministries. Elizabeth also went on a few mission trips to the Philippines with the organization Heart to Home. She served in orphanages and various communities in Cavite, Luzon, Visayas, and Montalban Rizal.

Elizabeth loved being with her family, traveling, exploring new restaurants, gardening, shopping, singing karaoke and watching Korean dramas. On the weekends, she usually hung out with one of her best friends or chatted with her sister, Zarah. Elizabeth was active at the Sugar Land Senior Center and attended Zumba classes. She also served her local community through Habitat for Humanity and used to serve her famous BBQ at the annual Meadows Place City Carnival. Elizabeth had an active and fulfilling life of 70 years.

On December 2, 2022, Elizabeth passed away surrounded by her family. The Lord greatly blessed us with Elizabeth's life. Her laughter, comforting smile and joy for life will be missed by all that knew her.
