David Lee Fontenot, a man of faith and service, departed this world on Saturday, March 29, 2025, to join his Lord, Jesus Christ, in eternal peace. Born on February 28, 1958, in Houston, Texas, to Ridley Fontenot and Marie (Totsy) Fontenot, David lived a life marked by dedication to his faith, his community, and his physical well-being.
David was a devout Catholic and a dedicated Christian. He also possessed a passion for weightlifting, maintaining a strong and disciplined lifestyle.
After attending Sam Houston University, College of Criminal Justice, David dedicated over three decades to law enforcement. He began his career in the early 1980s with the Precinct One Constable's Office Reserve Division in Harris County. He then served eight years with the Southside Place Police Department, followed by a distinguished 26-year career with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department, from which he retired in 2016.
David was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ridley and Totsy Fontenot.
He is survived by his loving sister, Camile Springer, and her husband, Randy; his brothers, Chuck Fontenot, Michael Fontenot and his wife, Sarah, and Stephen Fontenot and his wife, Carrilynn. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including his nieces, Rachel Souders, Crystal Fontenot, and Marie Fontenot Kizziah, and his nephews, Alex Springer, Mark Fontenot, Matthew Heath, Justin Wright, Andy Fontenot, Cameron Fontenot, Noah Fontenot, Gordon Fontenot, Andrew Fontenot, and Eric Fontenot.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, April 14th, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:15 p.m. in the Morrow Chapel at The Settegast-Kopf Company at Sugar Creek, located at 15015 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77478.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 St. Theresa Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77498.
Following the Mass, graveside interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr, Houston, TX 77055.
